 Stephen Ministry is . . .

 1.     A ministry in which one person reaches out to another in times of

bullet loneliness;
bullet depression;
bullet becoming new parents;
bullet being ill or hospitalized;
bullet being strangers in town;
bullet going through a time of grief or crisis;
bullet working through some problem or concern;
bullet . . . to name just a few of the possible situations.

 2.     A relationship on a weekly basis with a person who has received 50 hours of intensive training in many helping skills and who will visit you, listen to you, offer resources if those are needed by referrals, pray with you and offer Christian support.

 3.     A meaningful way for our Parish Team to provide and extend an active, ongoing, caring ministry for the people of our parish community by sharing this ministry with trained, caring parishioners and thus using more fully, the talents and generosity of lay people.

 STEPHEN MINISTERS ARE NOT . . .

bullet professional counselors or psychologists;
bullet ordained ministers;
bullet equipped to provide a lot of physical services--babysitting, preparing meals, transportation (except on occasion, these might be offered), or;
bullet
experts in law, finance, etc.

 STEPHEN MINISTERS ARE . . .

bullet

caring, supportive Christian people who have a desire to be with you in times of crisis, grieving, or need.
