Rev. Nancy Johnson at Lazarus' tomb Nancy Johnson
Senior Pastor

Rev. Nancy Johnson is an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church. Born in the lovely Florence, Alabama she came to Atlanta in 1991. With a bachelor's degree in music in hand and acting classes ongoing, Nancy worked in the theatre and corporate video scene for several years. While an active member of Peachtree Road UMC, she perceived a call to ministry and began seminary.

In 1999, Nancy began work on a Master of Divinity degree from Candler School of Theology at Emory University. She studied for a semester at the United Theological Center in Melbourne, Australia. In 2002, Nancy received her MDiv from Candler and in 2006 was ordained. In her years of ministry, Nancy has served in both associate and lead pastor roles. Her churches include Underwood, Cascade, Peachtree Road and The River United Methodist Churches.
Placing a high importance on community involvement, Nancy recently served on the boards of Forsyth County Community Connection, Leadership Forsyth, and the Lanier Forsyth Rotary Club. She is a volunteer chaplain for Northside Forsyth Hospital. Her writing can also be found in each issue of Around About Cumming Magazine

One of Nancy's greatest joys is writing. She is currently the author of a blog called Feast for the Soul: Reflections of a Clergy Cook. Her writing focuses on issues of food and spirituality, as well as cooking, family, travel and being a mom.

Now living in Cumming, Georgia, Nancy has been married to Todd Pierson since 1995. They have two amazing children, Vivian and Roland, born in 2002 and 2005. If she had time for hobbies, they would be reading, cooking, traveling, hiking, gardening and scuba diving.

Jan T Jan Tamucci
PreSchool Director

Jan's journey towards Christ United Methodist started back in 1990, when she and her husband Mike moved to Atlanta from Birmingham.  Jan received her Bachelor's degree in Home Economics from the University of Montevallo, a small college just outside of Birmingham.

She began her career teaching 3-year-old preschool at a small private school in Roswell and fell in love with the profession of caring for and teaching small children.  After teaching for two years, Jan spent the next 6 years as the director of the privately owned full-time Sutton Country Day School in Roswell.   As director, she learned every aspect of how to manage a growing school and a large staff of teachers.

During that time, she and Mike were blessed with two sons, Michael and Ryan, and their daughter Hannah.   And while loving what she was doing in the field of child care, Jan wanted to make a change to a Christian work environment with a time frame that would allow her to be home with her children after school.

In September of 1998, God opened the doors for Jan to come to Christ Church as director of this wonderful preschool.  Jan will tell you that it is a perfect fit for she and her family.  The program has thrived under her direction, doubling in size to an enrollment of 126 students.

Jan's own words reveal the excitement she feels about this ministry.  "I could not be more proud of the job that our staff does each day for these children.  It is truly a ministry to our community and I feel privileged to be in a position at such a wonderful and supportive church, where I can really make a difference in the lives of the children and their parents."
