Have you always wanted to learn to knit or crochet but never had the opportunity?
Does doing something for charity make you all warm inside? Well you're in luck!
Some of our very talented "Nimble Fingers" club members would like to teach you. You can learn to knit or pick up patterns if you are already experienced There will be no charge for the classes.
“CUMC Nimble Fingers” will be meeting every 1st and 3rd Fridays of the month from 10:30AM - 1:00PM in the church annex. We will work on blankets and hats (knitted or crocheted) for the orphanage in China. If you have an interest in this fun and worthwhile project, Please contact Beth or Bebe @ 770-592-7843.
What is a Prayer Pager?
A Prayer Pager is a way to use technology for the beneficial efforts of prayer. It is an immediate and tangible way for someone to know they are being prayed for at that moment. Thanks to a contribution by the Girl Scouts who use our facility, we have 3 pagers available for use.
Thanks to Carol Carper, who brought this idea to our attention and worked at beginning this ministry for CUMC.
Here is how it works:
A Prayer Pager is given to those who need the support of the prayer.
The community and churches are notified to begin praying for the individual (e.g. by listing in the bulletin, by notifying prayer chains).
People in congregation pray for the person carrying the pager. Then they call the pager number and enter "III" (signifying the Trinity). The person with the Prayer Pager receives a beep or vibration letting them know that they have been lifted up in prayer.
When the person no longer feels the need for the Prayer Pager, they return it to the church to be passed onto others.
M.U.S.T. MINISTRIES
(Ministries United for Service and Training)
MUST Ministry Site: http://www.mustministries.org
There is a MUST Ministries basket located on the ground floor of the Sanctuary where you can drop off toiletries. The Outreach Committee plans to collect toiletries indefinitely in order to help with this wonderful ministry. Hotel sized toiletries are wonderful for the homeless as well as regular sized ones for various shelters.
Shampoo, conditioner, combs/brushes, toothbrushes, toothpaste, NO MOUTH WASH, hand lotion, razors, shaving cream, Advil/Tylenol, etc. are examples of what they need.
There are pamphlets by the basket should you like to learn more about MUST or see C. Carper.
